KAGE Parent Night Fall 2019

A session designed to provide parents with information and ideas to use in parenting their gifted children. 

Monday, September 23, 2019, 7:00 – 8:00 pm (Eastern Time)

with Antonia (Toni) Szymanski, Ph.D.

 

Understanding and Supporting Your Intense Gifted Child: A presentation of common issues for intense, gifted people and what parents and teachers can do to help their children channel intensities. We will explore how to help them in school, in social, situations, and most importantly at home to make life more peaceful. Parents will leave with a resource sheet and some ideas to put into place that night.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Antonia (Toni) Szymanski is an Associate Professor of Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University. Dr. Szymanski has published several articles on the needs of gifted students and how teachers can improve the educational experience of these learners. She has done extensive work regarding advanced diverse students and the ways that schools can support them. Her work focuses on underrepresented advanced students, the psychological and social needs of these learners, creativity, and talent development. Dr. Szymanski has devoted her professional career to improving the educational experience for gifted students and supporting parents and teachers in understanding their needs. She is on the editorial board for the NAGC publication Teaching for High Potential and is the NAGC Education and Research Network Program Chair. In addition to her professional work, Toni is the mom to two gifted children. She has experienced every type of educational setting from homeschool, private, religious, and public school with her children.

KAGE is offering a special opportunity for parents to attend the KAGE Fall Workshop.
