ADMINISTRATORS INSTITUTE 2019

Monday, February 25, 2019, 8:00 – 3:00 pm (Eastern Time)

INTENDED FOR:  Superintendents, Principals, Assistant Principals, and All Educators Who are Key Decision-Makers in Schools, Districts, and Organizations

PURPOSE: If gifted students from all levels of society are to be nurtured to be college and career ready and to reach their full potential, then key decision-makers must make informed decisions rooted in research-based strategies and best practices in gifted education. All children, including gifted children, need encouragement, and appropriate learning experiences from caring adults in order to make the most of who they are and will become.

Sessions will include:

• (Keynote) Cultivating a Culture of Creativity, Brian Housand, PhD. Gifted education has a long and rich history of championing creative productivity in our students. Yet, many of our gifted students have become stymied by a fear of failure and the proverbial creative block. To overcome these mental roadblocks, this session explores core principles that today’s most innovative businesses and industries are utilizing to overcome the unseen forces that stand in the way of true inspiration and provides practical examples of how we can implement these principles into our gifted programs.

Acceleration, Enrichment, or Something Else to Allow Advanced Students to Thrive, Julia Link Roberts, EdD. – This session will examine what is current in regard to services for gifted students and what administrators need to know in order to support best practice at elementary, middle school, and high school levels. What is best and for whom – acceleration, enrichment, or other possible services will be discussed.
