Depth & Complexity: The Gifted Solution

with Lisa Van Gemert

Monday, June 18, 2018

Bowling Green, KY, Western Kentucky University campus – 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Central Time

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: If you have ever wished for a solution that could help you meet the needs of gifted learners, even in a mixed-ability classroom, Depth & Complexity is the framework for you! Join Lisa Van Gemert, one of only a handful of authorized Depth & Complexity facilitators, for a thorough (and thoroughly enjoyable) training introducing you to the power of the Depth & Complexity framework. In addition to an in-depth understanding of Depth & Complexity, the session shares literally dozens of content-specific examples, as well as ideas for activities and how to introduce the framework to students. After the session, you will be able to apply the framework in your classroom to raise thinking level and differentiate instruction painlessly. Whether you are familiar with Depth & Complexity or not, this day will empower you.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER (in her own words):  “I’m an educator by training, and I’m a Giftedland native – I was a gifted student, I’ve raised three gifted kids, and I’ve taught gifted students. The gifted trifecta! I’ve been a teacher, a school administrator, a homeschooling mom, a paralegal, an Army Intelligence Analyst (yep), and a cheerleader. Not in that order.
I translate research into language and strategies everyone can use to improve their performance, efficacy, and enjoyment in what they do. I share best practices with schools and education conferences (and sometimes even businesses), specializing in the gifted.  I’m known as the Gifted Guru (because “Van Gemert”), and my most favoritest thing anyone ever called me was “Ambassador of the Gifted.”
I think GT stands for “Good Teaching” and “Good Thinking” as much as “Gifted and Talented.”
I am… a frequent conference keynote speaker, facilitator of educational and business professional development, expert consult to television shows, and author of articles published in magazines and peer-reviewed journals. I’m also the author of the book Perfectionism: A Practical Guide to Managing “Never Good Enough.”

EILA and conference credit will be available.
