Lynette devoted her life to students with gifts and talents, their educators, and their parents. Her tireless advocacy for Kentucky’s gifted and talented children has impacted countless children and young people, their educators, and their families. Whether walking the capitol halls in Frankfort or Washington, D.C., organizing timely professional development opportunities for GT educators, overseeing the KAGE office and KAGE Board, and so much more, Lynette embodied the invaluable mission of KAGE on all levels. She is respected locally, state-wide, and nationally for her leadership.
So it is with great pleasure that the KAGE Foundation created a scholarship fund in her honor: The Lynette Baldwin KAGE Scholarship for Teachers. This scholarship would provide funding for Kentucky teachers to attend any professional learning opportunity focused on meeting the unique needs of students with gifts and talents. This includes the KAGE Annual Conference, Fall Workshop, and Summer Workshop. Educators must be knowledgeable to provide equitable identification and access as well as appropriate services for these exceptional children.
Applications must be received by August 1 and December 1 each year. Applicants must provide a description of their work with gifted and talented youth, reasons why attending the professional development is important to their work, and a brief description of intended outcomes from attending the session. Awardees must provide a written summary of the outcomes from attending the session by June 30th. If you have any questions, email kage@wku.edu.
